What is the GREY Jedi Code in Star Wars The Old Republic?

People who know about the Star Wars universe also know that its mythic heroes include the Jedi Knights, adept with the Light Side of The Force. The Jedi Code preaches inner peace, whereas the Sith Code regards passion as the ultimate power source.

There are, however, the Gray Jedi in between the light and the dark, and according to their code, a balance must exist between the Jedi and Sith. Here are some things you might not know about the Gray Jedi code.

What is the GREY Jedi Code?

There were two meanings to the term Gray Jedi. Jedi and Sith both used the term to describe individuals who tried to balance the light and dark sides of the Force. Secondly, it described Jedi who does not adhere to the Jedi Code and operate outside the Jedi Order’s strict rules.

However, the true Gray Jedi met both of these qualifications and had no tradition of the Force. For example, Jolee Bindo served the Old Republic as a Jedi Padawan and Gray Jedi. Gray Jedi lived by the same code as Jedi. Leor Danal, the first Kage, wrote it.

When he was in a Force Trance, he said, he had a vision of the code. Even though the term did not refer specifically to Jedi who could use both the light and dark sides of the Force, all Gray Jedi were capable of doing so.

In the same way as “Dark Jedi,” the term can be used to call any Force-user, not just Jedi who fell short of the strict requirements for becoming Gray Jedis, who was sometimes referred to as unorthodox or dissident Jedi.

In response to Qui-Gon Jinn’s disagreements with the High Council, some members of the Jedi Order considered him to be a Gray Jedi. The Gray Paladins are a renegade Jedi group that advocates only minimal use of the Force and blasters while otherwise maintaining the Jedi Code.

History of GREY Jedi Code

When the Old Republic was in power, the Jedi Order was largely decentralized. Jedi academies were present across all three galaxies at this time. However, masters who trained Jedi independently were also available at this time.

The decentralization of the Order allowed Jedi to be trained, Knighted, and admitted to the Order without having to travel to Coruscant, the galactic capital. In contrast to later Jedi, the Jedi of this period were fractious and refused to submit their central authority to the Jedi High Council.

The Jedi, however, went from being at the height of their power to a mere remnant of themselves during the time between the beginning of the Great Sith War and the end of the Dark Wars.

The spread of war throughout the galaxy prompted some Jedi to call for a powerful central authority. Vrook Lamar and Atris were among those on the Council who revised the Jedi Code to impose greater discipline and control on the Jedi Order.

Even though the Jedi Council rewrote the code, not all Jedi followed it. There were several objections to the new restrictions, including an inability to have families for Jedi and a restriction on dark side abilities. Grey Jedi were known to both the Jedi and the Sith as individuals who frequently clashed with the Jedi Council.

Traits & Techniques of Gray Jedi

Jedi who resorted to the dark side but did not fully embrace it did not become corrupted. During the Great Sith War and the Jedi Civil War, Bindo fought against the Sith Empire.

Grey Jedi exhibited adherence to the dark side of the Force but were not corrupted by it. Those who had fallen to the dark side and were later redeemed were not regarded as Gray Jedi.

Some Jedi still thought the gray Jedi to carry the dark side’s influence, even if they were unaware of it. Such individuals were instead followers of the Potentium, who didn’t believe in the dark side of the Force.
